The Oldest Student: Literacy in Chattanooga

January 11 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Star Line Books is thrilled to host local author Rita Lorraine Hubbard in the shop on Saturday, January 11 at 2 pm.
Imagine learning to read at the age of 116! Through Rita’s latest book The Oldest Student, discover the true story of Mary Walker, the nation’s oldest student who did just that, in this picture book from a Caldecott Honor-winning illustrator and a rising star author. In addition to spending time with this beautiful picture book and its talented author we’ll be highlighting the work of local organization Moms For Social Justice and their incredible efforts to promote literacy and invest in diverse libraries across Hamilton County’s Opportunity Zone classrooms.

You’ll have a chance to purchase and have signed Rita’s book, shop other great titles selected by Moms For Social Justice and donate to their next classroom library, enjoy some refreshments and activities, and with purchases of The Oldest Student or donations to Moms For Social Justice will earn a coupon toward a future Star Line Books purchase!

Don’t miss this amazing event honoring a beautiful new story by Rita Lorraine Hubbard, the power of literacy, and some of Chattanooga’s most powerful history.
